    The enemy has used people throughout my lifetime, beginning when I was a child, to make me believe I should never reach for the best, including Jesus. The Lord has used these verses to help me remember that I must stay alert to all things and trust that before I know it, the God of peace will take out the enemy because He wants me to enjoy the very best of Jesus!

    17-18One final word of counsel, friends. Keep a sharp eye out for those who take bits and pieces of the teaching that you learned and then use them to make trouble. Give these people a wide berth. They have no intention of living for our Master Christ.     I love these verses because they remind me that it is not simply rejoicing in a circumstance but I am rejoicing in my LORD at all times. It is possible, he even tells me how to do it.

    Deuteronomy 29:29 “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.”
    I LOVE this verse – but I really need to pick it apart to explain why . . . there are soooo many “secret things” I do not and will not ever understand . . . I do not need to know How God created the earth and all that is in it – I just need to know that He did create it all! I do not need to know how and when we are to be baptized – I just need to be obedient when it comes to what I believe about baptism. I do not need to know when Christ is returning – many way smarter people than me have studied these things for centuries and still disagree – I just need to know He IS RETURNING and I need to be ready and I need to help as many as I can be ready too! I will never understand why a 3 year old dies of a brain tumor or a car accident is allowed to bring a family through some of the toughest challenges this life has to offer or what purpose Alzheimer’s disease (or many others for that matter) serves. But Deuteronomy does not just call us to leave the secret things to the Lord – it goes on to say “but the things revealed belong to us and to our children – forever!” – We need to get in His Word!!! – Find what God will reveal to us – His Grace – His Love – His Forgiveness – pass those revelations on to our children – make it yours FOREVER!! – “That we may follow” – it does require some action on our part! Just sitting in church every Sunday will not make you a Christian any more than going and sitting in a mud puddle will make you a world class distance swimmer. In fact – there are some “church people” who really give Christians a bad name! We have wonderful Bible based teaching from our pulpit and available on Christian Radio/TV/Bible Studies– and those folks splash God’s word over onto us from the time they spend in the depths of God’s Word, but if we want to grow in our Spiritual Walk we need to dive into His Word for ourselves. It’s a choice – We have many choices in life – A dear friend had a great sign by her door when her children were growing up – it read – “Life is full of choices – take off your shoes or mop the floor” Now that seems pretty basic, but it is a reminder of how each seemingly small choice we make has consequences! One of the biggest choices you will make daily is how you will use your time. Each day has 24 hours for each of us – will you choose to spend your time or invest your time – I pray the choice for each one reading this will choose to invest your time in God’s Word. “that we may follow all the words of this law.”
    . . . well there you have it – way more than you bargained for, but now you know why I LOVE this verse and God’s word in general♥ So much in one simple verse!

    I have 2 life verses. I call them my heart verses.

    32 years ago, when I started my journey with Jesus, I chose 2 Timothy 1:3 – “He is my God and my only purpose in life is to please Him”. Living Bible version. My goal has been to live my life according to this verse so that I might hear, “Well done thou good and faithful servant” from Jesus Himself.

    Over the years, John 19:30 has become vital in my spiritual walk as well. ” When Jesus had tasted it, He said, “IT IS FINISHED!” Then He bowed His Head and gave up His Spirtit.” I grew up in a church that teaches salvation thru works and sacraments. According to Isaiah 64:6, ALL my righteousness is nothing but filthy rags to God. So, whenever I start thinking I must do this or that to keep in God’s good graces, I praise God that Jesus is enough. My salvation rests solely on Him and His work on the cross. Not my works. His work! How can I possibly add to Perfection?!!!!

    This verse reminds me of who what where and when. It covers all the bases. It is a verse I share with my testimony. When I was searching for God, when there was a hole in my heart, when I needed to brought out of darkness.
    When I was asking The Lord for a verse, praying about it for a few weeks, I was woken in the middle of the night with this verse. To me it is a verse I like to share when I am talking to people searching for the truth.

    As I was listening to Chris Fabry today 10-10-14, David Edwards was his guest. Oh, how I enjoyed the show! I called into the program to encourage those who have not found their life verse yet. My advise…enjoy your experience by getting to know God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit though the reading of His Word! One day it will be revealed without looking for it ;-), you will know with total excitement that … you found your own personal life verse! I share my opinion because I got saved in June of 1995, it wasn’t until 2012 that I read my life verse :-)! It became my life verse because it was the life I had been living up until recently. I am a Realtor in Florida, business had been very challenging since 2006 until now. When I read this verse in 2012, I KNEW beyond a shadow of doubt that His Word is so ALIVE in me! Why … listen to the verse!
    Jeremiah 17:7-8 Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit. Christian friends, through it all, my leaves remained green when the heat came and in my financial difficulties, I did not cease to bear fruit! You will like a gazillion verses, chapters and stories, but be sure to claim your own not someone else’s! Amen!

    I am a Baptist pastor. I thought my verse was 1 Sam. 12:23 “God forbid that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you.” But another verse chose me! I love to preach and teach the Word. Two things terrify me-to communicate error for Truth orTruth without passion in a boring way. So 1 Timothy 2:15 has become my life verse. Study to demonstrate yourself approved of God cutting-straight (rightly dividing) the Word of Truth. I spend way too much time in preparation, and always have way more than I can use at any one time. Makes for abundant well to draw from.

    I could not get the link to work where I could add my life verse. It is Gal. 1:24. “And they were glorifying God because of me”. It is ever before me to remind me that we are surrounded by a crowd of spectators and my only purpose is to walk in victory so that God will be glorified.

    The verse was chosen as Angela’s life verse when she was in elementary school. After a three plus year battle against breast cancer, Angela departed this life and was escorted into the portals of heaven. Throughout her battle her faith and trust in God never wavered and she followed Him as He directed her path.

    “The LORD will comfort Israel again and make her deserts blossom. Her barren wilderness will become as beautiful as Eden – the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found there. Lovely songs of thanksgiving will fill the air.”

    My life verse is the kind that will really only be affirmed after it’s completion, which, though encouraging overall, has been somewhat frustrating at times; but that is very much like God to do something like that, “first I predicted your deliverance; I declared what I would do, then I did it….you are my witnesses that I am the only God” (Isaiah 43:12 NLT). I’d like to witness that kind of power then share that good news.

    Earlier in the year, I laid out all the verses I thought He had given me, and with which He had encouraged me over the past twenty years; they all hinged on Isaiah 51:3 and the topic of Hope. I relinquished them so He could return them to me – with clarification. Months later, as I read Life Verse, I realized that though it hasn’t been fulfilled yet, Isaiah 51:3, I can trust, is His verse for me. And something beautiful is going to come of it.

    My life verse is Isaiah 41:10. I grew up in an abusive family. Everyday I prayed with all my might that God would help me be strong and to endure the unbearable pain I suffered throughout the two years I was in the family. I soon gave up hope and didn’t care. But after two long and dreadful years, I was adopted by a Christian family that only showered me with love.
    My past dictated me for a long time and I still made a lot of bad decisions. However when I think of the verse, it convicts me and I immediately turn back to God.

    These verses have reminded me through the years that it is not me. Most recently, I was going through a period where it didn’t seem like God was speaking. The reminder of these verses reminded me that even if I couldn’t see him, he was still moving.

    There have been times in my life where particular verses have ministered to me in a special way but I never had a verse that I clung to throughout my entire life. After I heard David Edwards talk about his new book, I was intrigued and decided to read it. Before I finished the book, I had discovered my life verse. It’s Isaiah 26:3, You will keep (her) in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on you, Because (she) trusts in You. What a wonderful verse to live by and hold on to and the assurance of peace no matter what happens in life.

    John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. “. Everything in my life is always chaotic. This verse keeps me grounded. When I am on my face in anguish this is the verse I cry out. And He always wraps me in His peace. His Holy Spirit is always there to remind me that He is the peace I need.

    This book has been a real blessing to me. It took me a while to figure out what my life verse was. But mine is 2 Corinthians 1
    “Praise be to the Lord our Father who comforts us in all our troubles. The Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ”
    I once received this verse from a friend on a trip I went on recently and she told me it was a word from God and I have just been really praying and looking for my life verse lately yesterday it just came on me that it was my life verse. Also, because I am writing a book and sharing my story with others and hoping it will help comfort others as well. It’s just amazing how much this book has helped me thank you David Edwards God bless you!

    My life verse is Ezra 7:10, “Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the Lord and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel.” (NASB) Early in my ministry I was exposed to several spiritual concepts, including Scripture memory, spiritual gifts, and having a life verse. All of those concepts, along with my regular study of Scripture and temperament analysis came together in Ezra 7:10. The vers has guided my ministry and focused my life for over 40 years. I will look forward to reading this book so that I can share it with others.

    My Life verse is Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. This verse hit me deep in my heart that our Lord cares that much for me. That there is hope in this fallen world.
